SMS Standard Color Library

The core SMS color library for professional, cross-media color consistency.

The SMS Standard Color Library is the primary color set of the Spot Matching System. It is designed for brands, designers, and production environments that require predictable, repeatable color reproduction across print and digital media.

SMS Standard library overview

What this library is

The SMS Standard library consists of measured, named colors that are:

  • Defined using spectral data
  • Reproducible in CMYK on coated and uncoated paper
  • Displayable accurately within the sRGB color space

The library was developed to ensure that the same color intent can be maintained from digital design through print production without subjective interpretation.

Reproduction Characteristics

SMS Standard colors are:

  • Optimized for ISO 12647 print conditions
  • Independent of ink recipes
  • Translated dynamically using ICC profiles

This allows the same color definition to be used across different printers, materials, and regions while remaining visually consistent.

Who this library is for

  • Brand owners managing long-term brand identity
  • Designers working across print and digital
  • Printers operating within standardized workflows
  • Agencies coordinating multiple suppliers

Available formats

  • sRGB for digital and screen use
  • LAB for precise color communication
